Dedicated to breaking the cycle of family violence in our community.  As part of its mission, the council maintains the community's only Safe House/shelter for victims of domestic violence and abuse and operates as a clearinghouse for victims to receive critical information and assistance.

Eligibility:  Anyone in an abusive situation including women, men, children and the elderly.

    Provides structured living for males who have substance abuse problems and assists in drug-free lifestyle development with strong emphasis on 12-step recovery programs. Individuals will transition to independent living through development of employment skills and support system for sobriety.

Eligibility: Completion of residential phase of chemical dependency treatment.

Cost: $10.00 per day or $70.00 per week

Hours:  Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

The SIMON House is a transitional living home for adult women and their children where they can live in order to learn independent living skills and prepare themselves for a productive return to society. The house contains six family units and provides housing to transient women, access to the health department, Social Insurance, doctors, and education and job search assistance.

Eligibility: Women 18 years of age or older, who are homeless and are pregnant and/or are caring for children

Cost: Free (Participation in Financial Counseling is required)

Office Hours:  M-F (8am - 5pm) to public.  Open 24 hours a day to residents.

The Sunshine Center intends to address the problem of child abuse in Frankfort, Franklin county, and the surrounding areas.  The target population includes the adult survivors and child victims in our community who have been, or are currently suffering from abuse.  The mission of the Sunshine Center is to create a safe, neutral and nurturing environment for children and families in our community through:  Education for improved parenting and life skills; Counseling and referral services to break the cycle of abuse; Charitable interventions to support families in crisis; Strengthening public awareness and understanding of the impact abuse has on families and children; and Supervised visitation with a non custodial relative to establish or maintain a relationship between the child and the relative (parent, grandparent, other).  In summary services available are victim therapy, parenting classes, supervised visitation, and crisis intervention.

Eligibility: For victim therapy:  The individual must be a victim, witness, or survivor of some form of abuse, i.e. child abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse.  For other services:  Anyone with these needs

Cost: The only fees are for supervised visitation at $20/hour.  Parenting classes for people living outside Franklin County are charged $50.00 for 12 weeks.
