Franklin County Women’s Shelter provides three facets of services to the Frankfort/Franklin County community.  Preventative services are critical in helping individuals who are at-risk of homelessness to remain housed.  FCWS provides support by giving food, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies, counseling through problem solving and giving information about eviction procedures and affordable housing options or by linking the client with other resources for help with rent or utilities.  Emergency shelter is a short-term solution for people who don’t have a place to sleep.  When the building is full or when staff is not present, women and children with critical housing needs are placed in hotel rooms until they can move into the shelter or be transported to shelters in surrounding communities.  FCWS also has in-house emergency shelter beds that allow residents to stay up to 30 days.  FCWS also has a Transitional Living Center that allows women to stay up to one year and receive wrap-around services with the ultimate goal of obtaining and maintaining self-sufficiency.

Eligibility:  Short-term care is available for any homeless woman who is not a current victim of domestic violence.  Longer-term care is offered to women who do not have children in their care.

Cost:  None
